An early lead for Marshfield was all they needed as they held Merrill to one run in a 6-1 game on Thursday.
The Tigers would build their lead in the third inning, scoring one run, followed by a two run top of the fourth. Merrill responded to Marshfield with one run in their half of the fourth. A lead-off homer for Kelsie Belfiori got the Jays on the board, cutting the lead to 3-1.
Unfortunately for Merrill that was their only run of the game and Marshfield would add three more runs to their total in the top of the fifth to secure the win.
Belfiori was accountable for most of the Merrill offense for the game, totaling one hit, one runner batted in and a homerun.
