Chamber Spotlight on Business: Bluejay Radio WJMT

The Spotlight on Business for May is WJMT Blue Jay Radio.
WJMT has continuously served our community as “the voice of Merrill” for 59 years. The station is currently located at 1106 West Main Street until the end of May. WJMT has a proud tradition of being Merrill’s source for local news, weather, obits, Merrill high school sports broadcasts, daily interviews with area leaders on local issues and community events, listener participation shows including “Swap Shop”, specialty programming with the “Saturday Polka Show”, Sunday morning religious and church broadcasts, and much more.
In April 2017, the station was acquired by Sunrise Broadcasting, LLC., a local broadcast group owned by former WJMT Radio General Manager Steve Resnick.

The company also operates WDTX (SportsFan 100.5) and WXCO (Cool Oldies 99.5 / 1230) in Wausau.
Since taking over the station, Sunrise Broadcasting has made some exciting changes and improvements to WJMT. The station can now be heard, on all streaming devices, anywhere in the
world via a digital broadcast on bluejay963.com. Live station remotes and local sports broadcasts have been upgraded to digital quality delivery, and in June 2018, WJMT began broadcasting on
Merrill’s brand-new FM station, Blue Jay 96.3
“It was very exciting when the radio station became owned and operated again locally,” said Debbe Kinsey, Merrill Chamber CEO. “Steve has done some great things with the station since he
purchased it and WJMT is bigger and brighter than ever before. And most importantly, we kept our voice of Merrill.”
WJMT is completing a new state of the art broadcast studio and offices in downtown Merrill, as we move to our new home at 1020 East Main Street at the end of May.

It’s one more reason we say, WJMT Radio is homegrown and once again locally owned “For the Love of Merrill!”
