A five run first inning for Wisconsin Rapids gave them the early advantage, as they defeat the Bluejays 9-3 in Tuesday’s conference showdown.

Following a scoreless top of the first inning for Merrill, Rapids would get their bats going right away, scoring five first inning runs. Rapids didn’t cool off after the first inning, adding three more runs in the second inning, followed by another run in the third to lead the Jays 9-0.

The Jays didn’t crack the scoreboard until the top of the fifth inning where Spencer Schneider drew a walk with the bases loaded, scoring Cody Depies. In the top of the seventh inning Merrill would load the bases, however only came away with two runs in the inning. Walks to Piersen Pyan and Schneider, followed by a Kordell Renken single loaded the bases for Merrill. A wild pitch allowed two runners to cross the plate for the Jays, bringing the score to 9-3.

Leading hitters for the game include: Kordell Renken (3H R), Piersen Pyan (2BB, R), Spencer Schneider (RBI, 2BB) and Holden Smith (H, BB).
