MACA Closes Out Season with ‘Masters of Soul’ on May 4

The Motown sound will come alive at the Merrill High School auditorium on Saturday, May 4 at 7 p.m. with Masters of Soul, a joint performance by The Fabulous Crooners Doo-Wop
Singers and the TFC Dance Band. This concert will bring the Merrill Area Concert Association’s (MACA) 2018-19 season to a close in style. Join us and experience the incredible harmonies
and smooth moves that have made the Motown sound an enjoyable and enduring part of America’s music legacy.
Masters of Soul features an ensemble of six singers and a four-piece band. Their performance celebrates the phenomenon known as Motown, which played a significant role in American music history in the 1960s and 1970s. The ‘Motor City’ of Detroit, Michigan was the hub of this distinctive soul-based pop sound that brought African-American artists to the forefront of a burgeoning music industry.
This group of seasoned performers will bring Motown memories to life in both sight and sound, featuring stylish costumes, full choreography and incredible harmonies for your entertainment.
The audience will instantly recognize iconic songs in this stroll down memory lane, including hits by The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross & the Supremes, Gladys Knight & the Pips,
Aretha Franklin and The O’Jays. While attendance at all Merrill Area Concert Association performances is open to members only, we invite you to become a member. Looking ahead, consider purchasing a 2019-20 MACA membership (the next concert schedule has just been released!) to enjoy the best value. A season membership allows you to attend all of the local MACA concerts, plus all of Antigo’s and Medford’s concert association performances as well. You can always purchase a membership on concert night, though it’s best to call in advance – then we’ll have your season pass ready for you.
