ADRC to offer program for Family Caregivers

Are you helping a spouse, partner, parent or friend? Maybe you’re helping them with medications, grocery-shopping, attending doctor visits or interpreting medical instructions. Perhaps you are helping out by preparing a meal here or there or managing cleaning, laundry or other house hold chores. Do you care for someone close by? Or from a distance? Are you caring for them a few times a month? Or every day? Whatever the case may be, providing care or support for a loved one can be very rewarding and yet very challenging at times. Care giving is much easier to do when you’re prepared. The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin will be offering a 6-week program called: Powerful Tools for Caregivers. This program will help family caregivers better cope with the challenges that come with their role as a caregiver.

Those who have completed the program report improvements in:
• Self- care behaviors (increased exercise, use of relaxation techniques and medical check-ups)
• Managing emotions (reduce guilt, anger and depression)
• Increase confidence in coping with caregiving demands
• Knowledge and utilization of community resources/services

Join us on Mondays, beginning March 4- April 8 from 1:00-2:45 PM at the TB Scott Free Library.
There is a suggested contribution of $10.00 for the entire 6-week class.
Pre-registration is required. Please call Meagan at (715) 536-0311 for more information or to register for the class.
