The Badger State fat tire bike race will be coming to the Merrill Memorial Forest on Saturday, Feb. 2. There are three different distances for the races including a 10-mile lap where the terrain is rolling, flowy, and scenic; a 15-mile lap with a blend of fast Prairie Dells flow and a vertical loop that is one big hill after another; and a 25-mile lap with challenging, hilly terrain. This lap adds a back country adventure over three ponds, four lakes, six bogs and 20 bonus hills.

“Merrill has some of the best off-road bike trails in the Midwest,” comments Merrill Park and Recreation Director Dan Wendorf. “It’s a great opportunity to get the Badger State Games back in Merrill and to show what Merrill has to offer. It would be great if we can make this an annual event.”

On site registration is allowed for $60, starting at 8 a.m. Racing will begin at 10 a.m. with the long race, 11:30 a.m. start for the medium race and a 1 p.m. start on the short race.

Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers of each race. The awards will be handed out at Gail’s Place Bar at 3 p.m.
