Evers meets with local legislators following Lincoln Hills visit

Governor Tony Evers toured Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake schools in Irma Friday afternoon during his first week in office. While in Lincoln County, Evers also met with local legislators.

Representative Mary Felzkowski (R-Irma) made the following statement after meeting with Governor Evers.

“I want to thank Governor Evers for prioritizing a visit to Northern Wisconsin in his first week of office. This afternoon, the Governor and his staff took a tour of Lincoln Hills and Copper Lake Schools. Senator Tiffany and I appreciated the opportunity to meet with him afterward one-on-one to discuss the school, its employees, and the transition moving forward.

“We expressed the extreme importance of staff safety at the facilities. These selfless employees go to work every day hoping to make a positive difference in the lives of our troubled youth and the first priority should be ensuring that they can do so safely. As the facilities shift in purpose, Senator Tiffany and I also strongly encouraged a solution that will keep them operational in some capacity.

“Governor Walker’s cabinet consistently reflected a robust knowledge of and focus on the issues that affect Northern and rural Wisconsin. So many of our state’s top industry employers and their employees are located and live outside of urban areas. I expressed my hope to Governor Evers that he and his team continue that emphasis.”

Representative Felzkowski represents the 35th Assembly District which includes communities in Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida and Shawano counties.
