Veterans, families, community invited to Kate Goodrich Elementary School

Students at Kate Goodrich Elementary School in Merrill are planning to honor our veterans on Thursday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. in the gym. All veterans and their families are welcome to attend.

Some of the planned student events include: Students and families honoring all veterans with our Wall of Pride. These are write ups and pictures of loved ones who have served in any branch of the military. These will be displayed for a few weeks in November to honor our loved ones.

The following will be a part of the program: Kindergarten will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, First Grade will be making cards and handing them out to our veterans at the program in the audience. Second grade and Third Grade are making posters to create awareness and inviting families to attend; Third grade have also written personalized invitations to people they know who are veterans and people in our community to attend, Fourth grade will be singing a very special song for everyone, and Fifth grade are painting portraits of bravery. The program will also including Vaghn Edsell discussing the importance and significance of Veterans Day and why it is important to honor these heroes. Jim Bjorkland will be singing our National Anthem.

Cake and coffee will be provided for all veterans and their families after the program.
