Merrill High School to present ‘Almost, Maine’

On Oct. 31-Nov. 3, Merrill High School will be presenting the play “Almost, Maine” at the high school auditorium.
“Almost, Maine” is a play by John Cariani. The setting is the remote, “not quite organized” town of Almost, Maine, in the far northern part of the state. Their are 10 scenes in the play and almost all of the scenes have two characters. The themes of the play are relationships, love, loss, hope and the many things that go along with these crazy and unpredictable parts of life. Part funny, part sad, this play will bring out many emotions in the characters and the audience.
All scenes take place on a winter night in Northern Maine. The Northern Lights just happen to be prominent that night. The characters are genuine people with real feelings and real struggles. I think we can all relate to the characters and their individual experiences.
“There is tremendous talent in Merrill High School and I am happy to report that there are 18 students with significant roles in this play,” said first-year director Tim Moe. “The community will be impressed and proud.”
The show kicks off with a matinee performance open to the community on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m., followed by three evening performances at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-3.  Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens.
