Norman F. Roets

Norman F. Roets, 88, of Merrill, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. Born on December 24, 1929 in Merrill, he was the son of the late Frank and Gladys (Erickson) Roets. Norman was married to Regina V. Sczygelski in Merrill on July 10, 1954.  She preceded him in death on July 20, 2011.

Norman was a truck driver and mechanic for Joe Swiderski Implement for several years and a truck driver for the R.O.W. Window Unit. In 1960, Norman and Regina started the family farming business, which he continued until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years, in the Red Arrow Division.

Survivors include his children; five sons, Steven (Cheryl), James (Patricia), Michael (Patricia J.), Patrick and David, all of Merrill; three daughters, Anna (Mark) Berger, Hollister, CA, Beatrice Roets, Merrill, and Debra (Timothy) Nofsinger, Athens; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Wegner, Ellie (John) Reich, Andrea (Jonathon) Swenson, Steven Roets, Jenny Roets, Jeremy (Winda) Roets, Amos Robl, Cameo Roets, Samantha Roets and Myles Nofsinger; great grandchildren, Alexander and Oliver Wegner, Peter Swenson, Helena and Millicent Reich; brothers, Frank Jr., Milan and Joe; sisters, Jane, Joyce and Carol and other family members.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Gladys Roets; wife, Regina Roets, sisters; Ruth and Marion, brothers; Eugene, Robert and Jack.

A Celebration of Norman’s Life will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Waid Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of service, at the funeral home. Father Chris Kemp will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed at the cemetery by Merrill VFW Post #1638.
