On Saturday the Merrill cross country team traveled to Wausau for the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet at Nine Mile Forrest. Merrill would have some nice finishes, however both boys and girls teams would finish last.

On the girls side Dalie Thomas and Liz Schmidt would be the only Merrill girls in the top 20, finishing 13th and 14th. Thomas took 13th place with a run of 20:25.1 and Schmidt would take 14th with a run of 20:28.2.

On the boys side the top finisher was Ethan Schelbert who ran a time of 18:35.3, good enough for 35th place. Stephen Koch was close behind, finishing in 36th place with a run of 18:39.4.

The Merrill cross country team will begin their postseason with the sectional race on Saturday at Standing Rock Park, starting at 11 a.m.
