Merrill Historical Society’s (MHS) annual fundraiser, “Trivia 2018,” will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Merrill History and Culture Center, 100 E. Third St., announced MHS president Bea Lebal. A new addition this year will be the live radio broadcast of the contest by WJMT radio, FM 96.3, so trivia buffs can follow along from home.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and the contest will begin at 6 p.m. sharp, with rounds of 15 minutes, each followed by a 5-minute refreshment break and tabulation of scores.

Registration cost will again be $120 per table for non-MHS members, and $100 per table for members, sold on a first-come, first served basis with a limit of 10 teams.

Teams can consist of up to six people, open to persons 14 years of age and older, with a prize for Best Team Costume.

Teams may bring in their own snacks or picnic dinners (no carry-in of alcohol), and Salvo’s Pizza is again offering discount and delivery of menu items. Beer and wine will be available on site from a local vendor.

Highest scoring team prize this year is $100 in gift certificates from Johnson’s. Best Team Costume prize consists of gift cards from River Valley Bank. A new category of Most Valuable Player, determined in a lightning round, will win a certificate from Weinbrenner Show Company for one pair of any boots or shoes they make. Tickets for unique raffle items and 50/50 prize will also be sold.

Ryan Schwartzman will again be Trivia Master, and Tom Burg referee. Bea Lebal and Sharon Anderson are judges. Pat Burg is the gatekeeper.

Teams can register at the Merrill History and Culture Center in person, by phone at 715-536-5652, or online at www.merrillhistory.org.
