Merrill Police and fire personnel responded at approximately 3:40 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a vehicle striking a light pole on East First Street between the cross streets of Mill and Poplar in downtown Merrill. Merrill Street Department staff responded as well to assist in removing the downed pole. One occupant was found in the vehicle which had sustained considerable front end damage. As of 4:25 PM, traffic on East First Street remained slowed and under the direction of the Merrill Police Department while scene cleanup continues.
No injuries were immediately reported.
