NWS: Flood Warning remains in effect for Lincoln and Marathon counties

Effective this morning, the National Weather Service station in Green Bay has issued a Flood Warning affecting the Wisconsin River in southern Lincoln and Marathon counties, through Thursday morning.

According to the NWS;  Runoff from the recent heavy rainfall will cause area rivers to rise, with some reaching bankfull or flood stage later today into tonight. Boaters and fishermen should be alert for fast flows which could make for dangerous conditions on area rivers. At 10:15 am Wednesday, the river stage at Merrill was was 9.1 feet. Flood stage is 11.0 feet.  The river is expected to rise near flood stage tomorrow morning. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

The Flood Warning is expected to remain in effect until 1 AM Friday.

Flooding will mainly affect Merrill area parks and agricultural land.
