Merrill Police reports

May 29
9:20 a.m.- A caller reported someone used a check stolen from her to make a purchase. A suspect is known and investigation continues.
9:20 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Department of Corrections.
10:16 a.m.- A female was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Department of Corrections.
7:48 p.m.- A caller reported fishing equipment had been stolen from his boat sometime overnight. Investigation continues.

May 30
3:44 p.m.- An officer responded to a verbal domestic complaint. In speaking with the female party, it was determined that the male party had possibly abused their small child prior to leaving the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
10:32 p.m.- Officers responded to a crash. A vehicle had struck a parked vehicle and the driver left the scene. The female caller then returned to the scene. The female claimed to have been the driver of the vehicle, but had no injuries from the extensive crash where the driver would have sustained injuries. The female was arrested for obstructing. The investigation is ongoing.

May 31
1:12 p.m.- Officers responded to the Probation and Parole office to take a female party into custody on a probation violation. She was transported to the jail.
4:15 p.m.- An officer responded to a shoplifting complaint. The business had two individuals shoplift from the store in the early morning hours, but had video footage. Investigation is ongoing.

June 1
6:18 p.m.- A caller reported someone had kicked his garage door causing damage. The caller reviewed a surveillance camera at his property and he recognized the suspect as an ex-employee. Officers attempted contact with the suspect but were unsuccessful in doing so. The ex-employee will be facing a charge of criminal damage to property.

June 2
10:09 p.m.- A caller reported that he believed that he had fallen victim to an internet scam and lost a large sum of money as a result. An officer investigated the incident.
12:15 p.m.- A landlord reported the theft of yard equipment and appliances from a property he was renting. Also reported was damage to the interior of the property. Suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
3:07 p.m.- A caller reported observing a female which they believed was wanted. Officers responded and located a female who was found to have a warrant for her arrest. The female was arrested and transported to jail.
8:43 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a female who was driving without a valid driver’s license. The female admitted to being in possession of marijuana. Marijuana and a marijuana pipe were located in the female’s purse. The female was cited for operating with a revoked driver’s license, possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia.

June 3
7:19 p.m.- A caller reported observing a male whom he believed was intoxicated get into a vehicle and drive away from a gas station. An officer located the vehicle and performed a traffic stop after observing driving behavior indicative of intoxication. The male driver refused to perform field sobriety tests and was arrested for OWI 9th+ offense. The male was transported to jail.
