A 33-year-old Minneapolis man will face a theft charge following a gas theft in the Town of Scott. A business reported the vehicle filled up with gas and left without paying. When a check was run on the license plate of the vehicle, it returned listed as stolen. Deputies located and stopped the vehicle and took the man into custody.

A 24-year-old Rhinelander man was arrested Monday afternoon after a traffic stop in the Town of King. A deputy stopped the vehicle on County Rd. A at Drott Road for a traffic violation. When a check was performed on the driver it was found he was wanted for violating the terms of his parole.

A 28-year-old Tomahawk woman was arrested Tuesday evening on a warrant charge and deputies recovered a stolen vehicle Tuesday evening. Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Skanawan to investigate a report of trespassing. A check showed the woman was wanted for violating the terms of her probation and a check on the registration of a vehicle showed it listed as stolen out of Mosinee. Deputies continue to investigate.

A 61-year-old Merrill woman was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant charge for violation of terms of probation.

A 38-year-old Merrill man was arrested Thursday morning on a warrant charge through the Merrill Municipal Court for failing to pay a fine.

A deputy investigated a scam report last week. The victim responded to an advertisement for an RV on a local buy and sell page. The seller requested the victim send gift cards in the amount of $2,000 for the RV. After receiving the money, the seller then stated the vehicle was stored in Kansas and requested an additional $1,000 for insurance of the shipping process. When the victim did not receive any further contacts, she did some checking and found the accounts disabled.

One person was injured after a two vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in the Town of Merrill. A vehicle being driven by a 50-year-old Waukesha woman failed to yield as she exited US Hwy. 51 at County Rd. K and was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 32-year-old Merrill man. The woman was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

A 36-year-old Michigan woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after a traffic stop near Tomahawk. The driver of the vehicle from Wakefield, MI was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman had three passengers in the vehicle under the age of 14 at the time of the arrest.
The fire danger in the county is high and currently the DNR has issued a burning ban county wide.

The number of car deer crashes has doubled and motorists are reminded to use caution on the roadways. A Merrill woman struck a turkey Monday morning on County Rd. Q in the town of Scott, on Wednesday a deputy struck a turkey on County Rd. K near County Rd. H in the Town of Birch, the squad was not damaged, on Thursday an Irma woman struck a bear on State Rd. 17 near Hinz Road. The bear and her cubs all left the scene.
