A 20-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a warrant charge. A deputy located the man in the Town of Bradley and arrested him on a warrant for violating the terms of his probation.

A 26-year-old Merrill man was arrested Tuesday evening on warrant charges in the Town of Merrill for violating the terms of his probation and for failing to pay child support.

A 40-year-old Merrill man was arrested Thursday evening after deputies investigated a disturbance in the Town of Corning. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct.

A 20-year-old Rhinelander man will be referred to the Lincoln County District Attorney after a traffic stop in the Town of Russell resulted in drugs being found. The deputy stopped the vehicle on State Rd. 17 at Bridge Drive. When he made contact with the driver he could smell marijuana, the driver turned over a pipe which contained the drug.

A 28-year-old Gleason man was arrested Saturday afternoon after deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the Town of Russell. The man was taken into custody on charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

A 59-year-old Junction City woman was taken into custody Saturday evening after deputies responded to a report of a wrong way driver on US Hwy. 51. Cell callers reported the vehicle traveling north in the southbound lanes of the roadway just after 11 p.m. Deputies stopped the vehicle within four minutes of the call at US Hwy. 51 and County Rd. J in the Town of Birch. The driver was placed through field sobriety tests before she was taken into custody. She was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and having open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.

As the snow melts flooding of roadways become a concern. On Saturday, Shady Lane Avenue was experiencing a large wash out from the heavy amount of water runoff. Deputies will continue to monitor roadways and rivers for rising levels this week. You are reminded not to drive through water that is covering a roadway and to report any washed out roads to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jaeger is passing on a warning from Sheriff Spoden of Rock County. Sheriff Spoden advised they have received reports of scams where a male is contacting residents and identifying himself as a deputy sheriff investigating their failure to appear for jury duty. The fake deputy tells the intended victim that a warrant has been issued for their arrest for not showing up but for a fee the warrant can be quashed. The victims are told to purchase gift cards and place money on them and to meet the scammer to hand them over. You are again reminded anyone asking you to purchase gift or money cards is likely a scammer.

The number of car deer crashes remains low with four being reported this past week.
