Brett Woller – Unopposed Newcomer

Age: 20.

Family: Parents, Kristin & Jim Woller.

Education: Merrill High School graduate, Class of 2016; current student at UW-Marathon County.

Involvement: Eagle Scout, Troop 500, held all other troop positions; member Samoset Council Executive Board; member Trailmates Snowmobile Club; research assistant at Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS).

Comments: “My name is Brett Woller, I am a graduate of the Merrill High School class of 2016 and have grown up in the MAPS school district. I’m originally from Wausau, however, we moved to Merrill soon after I was born. I currently am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin – Marathon County and am planning on continuing my higher education at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point in the fall. My intended degree is a Bachelor of Science in political science with a minor in marketing and business.
“I am seeking a seat on the Merrill School Board in this year’s election because I believe in making our schools and community a welcoming and better place. We have an amazing community and a top-notch education system and it’s my goal to make sure those institutions hold steadfast. There are many reasons in my decision to run for school board, however, the main reason I’m running is to make sure that students, staff and parents voices are heard. I plan on supporting our schools and students fully with the tools and instruments they need to be successful, while in the process also focusing on our districts needs and goals.
“I am a new candidate to the MAPS Board of Education election and I look forward to the opportunity to serve the MAPS board, serve you, serve our community, but above all else, serve our students. Don’t forget to vote on April 3.”
