Merrill Optimists honor local protective services

Over 100 people gathered Thursday evening for the Optimist Club of Merrill’s Protective Services Banquet as part of Optimist International’s ”respect for law” principle.

The dinner at Merrill Eagles Club recognized employees of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, Merrill Police Department, Merrill Fire Department, Wisconsin Probation and Parole Office, Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office, Lincoln County Coroner, Wisconsin State Patrol and Department of Natural Resources local wardens.

Lincoln County Sheriff Jeffrey Jaeger was honored in view of his announced retirement from a lifetime of public service. Dr. Carrie Kennedy, current president of Merrill Optimists, addressed the group. Doug Williams, former Merrill fire chief and former mayor, was the Master of Ceremonies.

The protective services members appreciate this annual celebration honoring their roles in keeping us safe and protected.
