Merrill Police reports

March 5
8:36 a.m.- A caller reported receiving a bill for phone services he did not use or authorize. Investigation is ongoing.
11:37 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
4:06 p.m.- A female was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.

March 6
9:46 p.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation. During contact the officer observed signs of impairment and field sobriety tests were performed. The driver was arrested for OWI 1st Offense.

March 8
4:38 p.m.- An officer responded to a two vehicle crash. One vehicle had rear ended another vehicle at a stop sign. The driver of the vehicle that rear ended the stopped vehicle was cited for following too close.

March 9
12:41 a.m.- A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop. The K9 handler recognized the driver as having a drug history. K9 Eros indicated a positive alert to the odor of drugs coming from the vehicle. Marijuana, hash oil, and drug paraphernalia was located inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested for probation violation, possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia.
8:34 a.m.- An employee at a factory located drug paraphernalia. An officer picked up the pipe and it was destroyed at the PD as the suspect is unknown.
1:08 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
2:35 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
7:26 p.m.- A caller reported a physical domestic disturbance. It was found a male became physical with a female following an argument. The male reportedly forced his hands in and around the female’s mouth on two occasions causing difficulty breathing. He also at one point blocked the doorway so she could not leave the apartment. He also smashed numerous items inside the apartment. The male was located and admitted to the altercation. He was arrested for strangulation/suffocation, false imprisonment, battery and disorderly conduct all with domestic abuse penalty enhancers.

March 10
1:28 a.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle weaving as it drove nearly striking a guard rail at one point. The driver displayed characteristics indicative of intoxication. The man agreed to perform field sobriety tests however would not cooperate with the instructions given. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated. His blood alcohol concentration was found to be more than three times the legal limit of .08. He was cited for operating while intoxicated and operating with a prohibited blood alcohol concentration.
7:50 a.m.- A caller reported several items stolen from his residence. Investigation is ongoing and the suspects are known.
9:30 a.m.- A business reported sometime overnight someone damaged a window and satellite system.
