Library to host Merrill mayor, city clerk candidate forum

The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods and the T.B. Scott Free Library will be co-hosting a City of Merrill Mayoral and City Clerk Candidate Forum to be held on Monday, March 26, from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Merrill Expo Center. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

The candidates in the April 3 Spring election are: Mayor, Bill Bialecki and Derek Woellner; and City Clerk, Bill Heideman and Patricia Lindquist.

The Candidate Forum will provide the public with an opportunity to see, hear and question the candidates. The moderator for the evening will be Art Lersch, Area Extension Director, University of Wisconsin Extension.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in this nonpartisan event. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., those who attend can submit their questions for the candidates by filling out a card and giving it to a League volunteer. All candidates will also provide opening and closing statements as part of the Forum.

The spring election will be held on Tuesday, April 3, with the polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods (LWVNOW) currently encompasses the northern Wisconsin counties of Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas. The Northwoods League belongs to the State and National League of Women Voters. The League is a non-partisan organization devoted to helping members and fellow citizens develop educated political opinions and act upon them through the democratic process.
