A 46-year-old Tomahawk man was cited Monday morning after a traffic stop. A deputy stopped the car for a speeding violation at 1:39 a.m. The driver showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Firefighters from the Town of Russell and Tomahawk responded to a reported car fire Monday morning in the Town of Birch on County Rd. J at US Hwy. 51. When deputies arrived they found smoke but no fire. The vehicle was found to have spilled fluids in the engine compartment which caused the smoke.

A 22-year-old Wausau man was arrested Wednesday evening after deputies investigated a vehicle in the ditch. Deputies responded to County Rd. K just before 8 p.m. after the vehicle was reported to be in the ditch near Lake Road. Deputies found the man had been drinking in violation of his probation rules.

A 36-year-old Merrill man was cited for OWI after a traffic stop early Saturday in the Town of Merrill. A deputy stopped the vehicle for speeding just after 1:30 a.m. The driver was cited for speeding and for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

A 34-year-old Merrill man was cited for OWI after a traffic stop early Sunday morning in the Town of Merrill just after 1 a.m. The driver showed signs of impairment and was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a minor passenger and for driving after revocation.

The number of car deer crashes remains low with only five being reported this past week.
