Lorraine C. Plautz

Lorraine C. Plautz, age 95, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018.  She was born May 12, 1922 in Merrill.  In fact, the same place she lived at for 88 years.  Lorraine resided at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill, for the last 7 years.

Lorraine was the daughter of the late William and Caroline (Henrich) Holl.  She married Delton Engel on May 10, 1945 in Prineville, Oregon.  He passed away on November 12, 1951.  Lorraine married Edward Plautz on January 1, 1954 at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill.  He passed away on September 22, 1988.

Mrs. Plautz worked from 1940 until 1955, when she retired from Weinbrenner Shoe Company in Merrill.  She was a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member.  Lorraine also belonged to the Quilting Bee and the Prayer Chain.

Lorraine enjoyed playing cards with her friends and also liked taking care of her yard and flowers, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (David) Jabas of Merrill; her son, Steven (Beth) Plautz of Merrill; four grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) McConnell of Sioux Falls, SD, LaNae Jabas (Kathy Thornburgh) of Baraboo, Andrea Plautz of Fox Point, WI and Steven M. (Inge) Plautz of River Hills, WI; three great-grandchildren, Ryan (Bri) Krueger of Sioux Falls, SD, Cole Meunier of Chicago and Anya Plautz of River Hills, WI; one great-great-grandson, Kai Krueger of Sioux Falls, SD; and three step great-grandchildren, Jason McConnell of Sioux Falls, SD, Kristen Miller of Baraboo and Taylor Miller of Baraboo.  Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Holl; her husbands, Delton Engel and Edward Plautz; her granddaughter, Nicole Jabas; and her brother, Evert and sister-in-law, Wilma Holl.

The funeral service for Lorraine will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.  The Rev. Kyle Carnes will officiate.  Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.  The visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.  Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Bell Tower Residence and Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services for their compassion and for the years of exceptional care they gave our Mother.
