A 2016 American Military University graduate and Tomahawk native was recognized as Junior Sailor of the Quarter by country star Martina McBride during her “The Joy of Christmas” Tour held at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, Virginia on Dec. 20.

U.S. Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Cassandra Wyles (far right in photo), an information systems technician, received the Junior Sailor of the Quarter award serving with Naval Air Station (NSA) Norfolk, Virginia.

“I have been listening to Martina McBride since I was a young child,” said Wyles. “To be able to meet her and represent the Navy means the world to me.”

McBride recognized Wyles and other sailors for their naval service during the event.

As an information systems technician, Wyles is responsible for maintaining communications and computer systems that help design and develop information and graphic content.

NSA Norfolk supports naval forces in the United States Fleet Forces Command, those operating in the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and the Indian Ocean.
