Chili dump supports homeless shelter

Dawn Troyer Dance Studio of Merrill hosted a Chili Dump fundraiser at the Merrill Eagles Club following the Merrill Christmas Parade on Dec. 2. The chili dinner raised $1,000 which was donated to Habitat Home, Merrill’s new homeless shelter.

The new Merrill warming center/shelter facility will provide a safe, secure, warm but temporary site to assist those in need.

The event was sponsored by River Valley Bank, Merrill Eagles Club, Geiss Meat Service, Clark’s Cup N Cone and North woods Maple Farm LLC, along with studio owners Leah and Craig Brown, the staff and families from the Dawn Troyer Dance Studio.

“Special thank you to all of the dance families for helping support, promote and attend this important event,” said studio secretary Missy Schlegel. “Each year our studio works to make a difference in our community through service, financial support and donation and each year you amaze me by your kindness and generosity.”

Extra chili and hotdogs were donated to the Merrill Police Department.
