Raymond J. ‘Ray’ Waschick

Raymond J. ‘Ray’ Waschick, 93, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Ray was born August 27, 1924, in Merrill, son of the late Adolph and Alice (Lawrence) Waschick. He married Irene Borelli on February 10, 1945. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2003. Ray had dairy farmed, drove truck for Lincoln Wood Products, Merrill, and retired from the former Hurd Millwork, Merrill. Ray enjoyed reading, playing pool, and hunting and fishing. Ray honorably served in the United States Army during WWII, and had been stationed in Europe. Ray was able to participate on the ‘Honor Flight’ in September of 2012. He was a life member of the Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna (Emmit) Winchell, Merrill, and Patricia Karr (Ralph Bosse), Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, Ray is preceded in death by three children, Kathleen Waschick in 1949, Walter Waschick in 1968, and Karen Floyd in 1992.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 9, 2017, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Chris Kemp will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Merrill, with graveside military rites conducted by the Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
