James (Jim) D. Chartier, age 75, Merrill, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Pine Crest Nursing Home Merrill. He was born October 22, 1942, in Merrill, WI.
James was in the US Army, and served in Vietnam as a Military Police dog handler guarding ammunition depots. After his service in the army he was employed at Wausau Paper Company for 33 years. He retired from Wausau Paper Company in 1998.
Jim liked to spend time with family and close friends. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the hunting shack with his nephews.
For many years Jim was a daily volunteer at the VFW stand at the Lincoln County Fair.
Survivors include his brothers: Darrell (Judy) Chartier and Dennis Chartier; sisters: Sue (Cliff) Kufahl and Sharon (Richard) Schmeltzer; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Marcella (DeBarr), and his daughter: Stacy Schuster
