Letters to the Editior

Editor,
Vice President Mike Pence recently spoke at an event of members of the donor network sponsored by the Koch Brothers.
He told the donors to reach out directly to their members of Congress. “Use your voice,” Pence said. “Use the stature that you enjoy in your communities and your state and all across this country.” To become a member of the network, a donor must commit to giving at least $100,000 per year to Koch-linked groups. Many give far more. The Koch network plans to spend between $300 million to $400 million on policy and political campaigns during the 2018 election cycle.
Actually Mr. Pence is saying to the Koch donors, use your money for their voice. This network wants a tax cut for the wealthiest, they want to do away with Medicare and they want health insurance for the middle class to disappear.
All Americans have a “voice and stature” it is called a “vote.” If you don’t want the rich to get richer, if you want our senior citizens to receive the care they need as provided by Medicare and if you need or want health care that is affordable, use your voice/vote and dethrone any politician that supports the Koch network ideas.

Letter to the Editor:
We naturally tend to believe individuals who seem honest and sincere. The woman in green, who is constantly appearing on our TV screens pushing Trump’s tax proposal, is a prime example. The problem is that her script consists almost entirely of deception and blatant lies. Her claim that the new tax plan wouldn’t benefit “the powerful, the well connected and the politicians” is absurd.
Trump’s proposed tax reform would immediately save him as much as $200 million (which he has denied). Eliminating the federal estate tax would save the ultra rich billions over time. In contrast, the gains for the middle class, even if the standard deduction is doubled, would be minimal compared to the windfall for the wealthy.
Who do you think is paying the huge cost of this constant ad bombardment? The answer appears to be the Koch brothers and their billionaire friends who avoid responsibility by hiding behind superpacs. These elite investors are expecting a huge return on their substantial investment.
There is one accurate statement in this deceitful political commercial. Senator Baldwin and other responsible members of Congress have vowed to oppose any tax proposal which results in a windfall profit for the very rich. Rather than complaining to her, as this misleading ad suggests, middle class voters should be calling her to encourage her to oppose this travesty. We must begin to actively support our representatives who have the courage to stand up against the powerful big money lobby.

Letter to the Editor:
There is an ad on your TV right now that is false and misleading. The ad criticizes Senator Tammy Baldwin for being against the Republican sponsored Tax Reform Bill. The ad is sponsored by Americans For Prosperity – which may sound as if this organization might be looking after your interest: NOT SO – Unless you are in the top 1% of income earners. Americans for Prosperity is funded by David and Charles Koch – multi-billionaires and manipulators of politics who stand to benefit enormously from this bill.
The Tax Reform Bill in Congress now will reduce the taxes of the Koch Brothers and their cronies in the billionaire bracket by lumping their incomes into a lower bracket with higher-middle income people. But that’s not the worst: The worst is that to pay for the lower taxes of the super rich, money must come from somewhere else to run the government. This tax cut for the wealthy will increase the national debt for years to come: analysts agree that the bill will increase our national debt by $1.3 trillion over the next 10 years. But that’s not all: this Tax Reform Bill shreds our safety nets such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and low-income health insurance. Why would our representatives vote for such a bill? This is northern Wisconsin – how many people do you know who depend on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid? Why would our elected officials vote to give President Trump and his billionaire friends millions in tax reduction on their multimillion dollar incomes at the expense of what we have worked all our lives: social security and health care?
Tammy Baldwin is voting your interest!! Give her a call to thank her! Call your other representatives Senator Ron Johnson and Representative Sean Duffy and tell them to vote against the unfair Tax Reform Bill. All can be reached at the Capitol Switchboard 202-224-3121.
