Merrill Lions sponsor Honor Flight

The Merrill Lions recently sponsored a Never Forgotten Honor Flight for Merrill resident Don Buntrock, pictured left with son, Breck Buntrock, who served as Don’s guardian on the honor flight.

The Buntrocks, along with Don’s wife, Judy, shared their wonderful experiences on the honor flight with the Merrill Lions. Don and Breck were on the 28th Never Forgotten Honor Flight and were able to visit six national memorials in Washington D.C., including the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.

Don and Breck, along with the other veterans and guardians, received a huge reception at Central Wisconsin Airport and in Washington D.C. To the delight of all on the honor flight, former Green Bay Packer and Hall of Famer, Jerry Kramer was on the flight.

Don served with the 32nd “Red Arrow” Infantry Division from 1957-1963, during the Berlin Crisis. The Merrill Lions learned from the Buntrocks that the Honor Flight was an experience to be “never forgotten.”
