The Merrill tennis team held their end of the year banquet last Tuesday (Oct. 10) at Merrill High School. The tennis team finished with 33 conference points this season, good for sixth in conference. There were many awards handed out at the banquet, including 14 varsity letters earned this year.
Lea Beckmann (Senior) was the winner of the MVP award for the 2017 season, Sierra Humphrey (Junior) won the Most Improved award, the Singles Player of the Year award was given to Alexandra Johnson (Freshman) and taking home the Doubles Team of the Year is Hailey Schult (Senior) and partner Anna Rydeski (Sophomore). The varsity letter winners include: Lea Beckman (Senior), Hannah Beyer (Senior), Maria Grund (Senior), Sierra Humphrey (Junior), Alexandra Johnson (Freshman), Alexia Kleinschmidt (Senior), Brianna Maas (Senior), Cassie McAllister (Senior), Catherine Murray (Senior), Rachel Rell (Senior), Anna Rydeski (Sophomore), Hailey Schult (Senior), Anna Skoviera (Junior) and Olivia Wheat (Junior).
