Merrill man charged following dispute over ‘time out’

On the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 20, officers responded to a reported disturbance on South State Street. According to officer notes, an investigation into the incident indicated 24-year-old Lukas Kleiber had reportedly become upset following a “time out” being set for Kleiber’s child by a relative.
Prior to the arrival of officers, Kleiber reportedly broke a phone in an effort to prevent other parties in the residence from contacting law enforcement. Upon arrival of officers, Kleiber reportedly retreated to a room of the residence and barricaded himself inside, before removing a window screen and escaping the residence.
According to further notes from officers, Kleiber was located via traffic stop on Sunday, Jan. 22. and was subsequently taken into custody on charges of Domestic Violence Related Disorderly Conduct, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer and False Imprisonment.

Kleiber appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court on Monday, January 23 facing a Felony charge of Intimidating a Victim Damaging Property and Misdemeanor charges of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting an Officer. Kleiber was later released on $4,000 signature bond.
