On Wednesday, Nov. 30, at approximately 1:40 p.m., the Oneida County Dispatch Center received a call of a semi-truck versus automobile accident. Upon responding to the accident scene located on Hwy. 8 West near Detienne Road in the town of Crescent, the driver and only occupant of the automobile was found to be deceased.
The preliminary investigation indicates the automobile was traveling eastbound and crossed over into the westbound lane striking the semi-truck head on. The semi-truck driver was transported to the hospital. The deceased driver of the automobile was identified as Daniel Erickson, 45, of Merrill.
Crescent Fire Department, Crescent First Responders, Rhinelander Fire Department, and Oneida County Emergency Medical Services responded to this scene. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing their investigation into the events surrounding the fatality accident. Hwy. 8 West reopened at approximately 9:50 p.m. Wednesday.
