New Odyssey Christmas show – 3 guys, 30 instruments, 30 years!

The Christmas season kicks off early this year in Merrill with the arrival of – no, not Santa, but close – New Odyssey! This special Christmas show features gags and gusto along with Christmas songs and a Santa outfit or two – entertainment for the whole family! Presented by the Merrill Area Concert Association, New Odyssey will appear Monday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at the Merrill High School Auditorium. It’s a Christmas show not to be missed and sure to be forever remembered – like an early Christmas gift for our community.

New Odyssey is really three guys who’ve been honing their musical skills for 30 years playing 30 instruments. Their individual virtuosity melds on stage in a unique Christmas production featuring comedy, skits and audience participation. When things really ramp up, they pull out the costumes and get local people to join the fun on stage.

Gary Todd, Michael Jay and Gary Polkow, the men of New Odyssey, are a power-packed team with backgrounds ranging from musical theatre to acrobatics. They play all the old Christmas songs while presenting a family-friendly, funny and energetic show. Comedic stunts take their performances far beyond the basics of a traditional Christmas concert, and their skits add a dose of Christmas zaniness. Audience members are welcome to join in on the antics and become performers, honking horns or donning silly Christmas costumes.

Christmas classics, Christmas rock, country Christmas, all in special arrangements, are the calling cards of this performance.

Attendance at all Merrill Area Concert Association performances is by membership only. Not only does a season ticket get you into all of our concerts, but you can attend additional concert association events in Antigo and Medford as well. While it is possible to purchase a membership at the door, preparing to pick up your tickets ahead of time is highly recommended. For membership information, visit [email protected] or contact Meagan at 715-252-6295.
