Threatening phone calls leads to more trouble for Merrill man

William N. Broome, 31 of Merrill– was charged October 21 with three Misdemeanor counts of Unlawful Use of a Telephone-Threatening Harm.
According to court records, Broome was involved in an incident in the City of Merrill on September 6, during which he reportedly made several calls of threatening nature to staff at the Economic Support Department of Lincoln County Social Services, During the reported calls, Broome allegedly made comments toward specific supervisors indicating torture, “hunt you down”, as well as dumping gas on a particular supervisor and setting the supervisor on fire.
Broome also appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court on October 20 facing charges of Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Damage to Property. In that case, Broome was reportedly involved in two separate incidents in the City of Merrill on the same date (September 6). Merrill officers initially responded to a report of Broome throwing a rock at a 13-year old female who was walking past his home. Broome then reportedly made hostile statements toward the female and allegedly threatened to kill the girl’s father upon his arrival. While officers were investigating the initial complaint, another party arrived in a vehicle and advised Broome had thrown at a rock at their vehicle earlier in the day, causing damage.
