Merrill Police reports

October 7
2:06 p.m.- A business owner reported someone stole some decorations from outside the business sometime in the last couple of days. The investigation is ongoing.

4:32 p.m.- A 16-year-old was referred to Social Services for theft after it was found he had stolen money from a business on two occasions while employed at the business.

6:45 p.m.- A caller reported people smoking marijuana at an apartment. Officers made contact and could smell burned marijuana. It was found three people at the apartment had been smoking marijuana. A pipe was seized and the owner was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

8:08 p.m.- An officer stopped a vehicle after finding the registered owner had a warrant for his arrest. The registered owner was not present but his son was. Another officer had pending charges against the son for delivery of methamphetamine. The man was arrested for that charge. A search of him revealed a glass tube with methamphetamine residue inside. He was additionally charged for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

9:24 p.m.- An officer observed a male he knew to have warrants for his arrest through Lincoln County entering a restaurant. Contact was made and he was arrested for the warrants.

9:43 p.m.- A caller reported someone had accessed her cell phone account and activated two cell phones on it. The suspect was tracked to a vacant residence in Milwaukee and to Illinois. The suspect has yet to be identified.

October 8
10:14 a.m.- An off-duty officer reported witnessing a vehicle strike a parking barrier at a convenience store then leave the scene of that crash and go to another convenience store. Officers found the driver did not have insurance. He was cited for operating without insurance and warned for false display of registration.

October 9
9:04 p.m.- An officer investigated a reported retail theft incident at Dave’s County Market. A male party was observed stealing a bottle of alcohol. The suspect was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

9:10 p.m.- An officer responded to the 700 block of Wisconsin Street for a reported theft. The victim reported money being taken from a vehicle and possible items missing from inside the residence. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
