Merrill Police Department announces next Citizen Academy

The Merrill Police Department is once again hosting a Citizen Police Academy. Sessions begin on Tuesday, Nov. 8, and will conclude in early 2017. The sessions are generally held at the Merrill Police Department from 6-8:30 p.m., except for sessions on Emergency Vehicle Operation and on Use of Force, which will be conducted at the NTC Public Safety Center of Excellence.

The sessions are scheduled to be held on Tuesday evenings, with the exception of the Emergency Vehicle Operation that takes place on a Saturday morning.

The academy provides participants a realistic view of the Police Department and law enforcement in general. Topics include: crime prevention, criminal investigation, use of force, emergency vehicle operation, drug recognition, conducting traffic stops, drug enforcement, and more.

Program participants must be at least 18 years of age and either live or work in the City of Merrill.
Class size is limited so please submit an application by Oct. 21, 2016.

Applications are available at the front desk of the Merrill Police Department, located at 1004 E. First St., Merrill. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
