Powder Puff 2016
It was another great year for Powder Puff last night, brisk winds and light rain gave a hint of autumn and a sense of vigor in the players and the students who both sat in the stands and ran around the track every time a touchdown was scored.
The Seniors took the crown, winning 34-14. It wasn’t a cut-and-dry game, however, as the Juniors played very well and at one point tied the game.
As fun as the game was, it was the big halftime event that will stay in most people’s memories: a surprise appearance by Specialist Justin Berry, who just returned from Afghanistan serving a ten-month tour. Junior Ashlin Berry, one of the Powder Puff players and little sister to Justin, was moved to tears when she realized what was going on. She ran up to him and they shared a long, heart-felt hug on the field.
The whole event was a lot of fun for everybody attending.
