Emogene Rhyner

Emogene Rhyner, 92, of Wausau passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born May 25, 1924 in Merrill to the late Nailus and Martha (Genz) Anderson.  Emogene grew up on the family farm and attended the Red Granite School in Merrill.  On March 16, 1946, she married LeRoy Rhyner at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River where they continued to belong for their entire 68 years of marriage.  In their earlier years, Emogene and LeRoy dairy farmed in the town of Texas.  Emogene took great pride in taking care of their seven children.  She was a wonderful cook and baked everything from scratch.  Her few spare moments were spent sewing, quilting and gardening.  Whether it was at church or Bethesda Thrift Store,  Emogene thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer work.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie Ray of Schofield, Doreen Moll of Wausau, Larry (Sandy) Rhyner of Wausau, Randall (Diane) Rhyner of Wausau, Julie (Patrick) Esker of Withee, Laura (Robert) Robinson of Three Lakes,  Daniel (Angel) Rhyner of Merrill, nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one brother, Eugene (Delores) Anderson of Wausau, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Anderson of Merrill, Margie (Robert) Thorn of Wausau and one brother-in-law, Roger (Delores) Rhyner of Wausau.  Emogene was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, grandson, Joshua, brother, Donald Anderson and two sons-in-law, David Moll and Nick Ray.

Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m.  with Reverend Gregory Laska officiating.  Entombment will be 9:00 a.m., Saturday in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park.    You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
