On Thursday, the JV tennis team squared up against Assumption for a dual. It ended with a 5-2 Merrill victory, made all the sweeter by the fact that it was originally supposed to be the varsity team, but the JV team was performing well enough that Coach Manda Walters felt putting them up against the varsity Assumption team would be a good test of skill.

For the singles, Jade Hunn of Assumption High School defeated Casie McAllister, 1-6, 1-6. Maria Grund of Merrill High defeated Becca Fawley, 6-3, 6-2. Raelynn Stubbe of Merrill High defeated Katie Gustin, 6-1, 6-1 and Molly Rydeski of Merrill High won by player forfeit.

For the doubles, Emma Jaeger & Erin Lemke of Merrill High defeated Ashley Rustad & Shania Beenken, 6-3, 7-5. Leah Becker & Rachel Kaminski of Assumption High School defeated Haili Schult & Kamille Ament, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 and Bailey Iwen & Ava Cohrs of Merrill High defeated Erin Dempzeand & Jasmine Rennhack, 6-2, 6-0.
