Merrill Police reports

July 29
11:16 a.m.- An officer responded to a local business for a shoplifting complaint. The caller was an employee who was watching a suspicious person in the store who was concealing an item in their shirt. The male party was attempting to steal a Plan B One Step medication. The male was cited for retail theft.

July 30
8:07 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver had warrants for his arrest and identified himself as another person. There was a female who was near the vehicle during the stop who was advised to leave the area. She continued to yell and curse at the officer and she was arrested for disorderly conduct. During a search, she was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was charged with that violation. The male party was later identified at the jail through fingerprints and was charged with unauthorized use of an individual’s personal identifying information and a probation violation.

July 31
6:20 p.m.- A caller reported her mother had been kayaking from Riverside Park and she expected her back by now. An officer was able to observe the mother several hundred yards downstream from the park and it was clear she was having difficulty getting back to the park. The mother was able to get to the shoreline. It was found she had difficulty navigating the strong current.
