Drug activity call leads to felony arrest of Merrill man

Sunday morning, officers responded to a report of drug activity in progress at an address on E. 1st Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the reporting party who indicated 27-year-old Shawn Maki was using drugs at a residence and wanted him removed.

Upon contact with Maki, officers reportedly discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Marathon County and was found in possession of several used syringes, as well as a gem bag containing Methamphetamine residue. As a result, Maki was taken into custody for the outstanding warrant as well as Felony-Possession of Methamphetamine. Maki was also being sought by the Merrill Police Department from a reported theft on May 25, in which he was identified as the suspect who reportedly shoplifted a pizza and steak from a local grocer.
