Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:43 PM, the Lincoln County 911 Communications Center received a report of an ATV crash having occurred in the Town of Tomahawk. Tomahawk EMS, Tomahawk Fire Department, a DNR Conservation Warden and deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the reported crash.
Per the investigation, the 57-year old male operator was reportedly traveling westbound on Newood Road-west of CTH O- when the ATV left the roadway and struck a colvert, causing the operator to be ejected from the ATV.
The operator was transported to Ministry-Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk where he was later pronounced dead. The operator was wearing a helmet and no passengers were reported to have been accompanying the operator at the time of the crash.
Alcohol may have been a factor.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin DNR.
