Hatchet golf ends season at Ashland

Hatchet varsity golf placed eighth at the Division 2 regional golf tournament hosted by Ashland at Chequamegon Bay Golf Course. With the eighth place result, Tomahawk ends their run there, as fourth or higher was needed to advance.

The advancing teams include Hayward (317), Rice Lake (342), Ashland (343) and Medford (357). Other team scores include Northwestern (365), Northland Pines and Lakeland (tied for sixth, 376), Tomahawk (378), Spooner (393) and Siren/Webster (407).

Individual results for Tomahawk include Mike Lodholz with 45-46=91 (22nd place), Andy Tessmer with 47-47=94 (25th place), Andrew Cook with 48-49=97 (34th place), Michelle Lodholz with 47-49=96 (30th place) and Ty Gerstenberger with 52-51=103 (40th place).

“We were in 6th place at the turn, but we struggled on the back nine,” comments head coach Garth Gerstenberger. “I had a really good group of kids on the team this year and they were a pleasure to coach.”
