Frank J. Alvin, age 85 years, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau. He was born on February 28, 1931 in Richland Center, Wisconsin to the late Mabel Schoel and Frank Alvin Sr. Frank and Janet  Melby were united in marriage August 24, 1957 in Baraboo, WI. She survives.

Frank served in the National Guard from 1951-1953 and was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. He started Alvin Roofing and Siding at the age of 26, and later he went on to own and operate Eaglewood Homes. He enjoyed helping his family with home projects.

Survivors include his wife: Janet Alvin; three daughters: Joni(Richard) Heckendorf, Deborah Alvin,and Jodi(Randy) Gipple; two sons: Kenneth D. Alvin and James A. Alvin, all of Merrill. Grandchildren: Amy Jo Graap of Milwaukee, Kasi(Kurt)Waid of Merrill, Ashley Graap(Joseph Sabatke), and Kody(Leah) Gipple: Great-grandchildren: Zoey Jane Sabatke, Konner Edwin Waid, and Clay Joseph Sabatke; Two sisters:  Dorothy(Virgil) Buroker and Loreaine Sugden; and numerous nieces and nephews from th the Beloit and Richland Center, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Frank Sr. and Mabel Alvin; sister: Madeline Lake, Betty Miller, Marion Pfaff; one brother: James Alvin; Brother-in-Laws: Johny Lake, Phillip Miller, and Jerry Phaff.

Funeral services for Frank will be held at 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Waid Funeral Home.. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home. He will be entombed at Merrill Memorial Park. Waid Funeral Home of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the charity of your choice, or Aspirus Cancer Center.  The family would like to thank Dr. Rezazadeh, the staff at the Onocology Center, and the nurses at the Aspirus Cancer Center.
