Merrill Police reports

March 21
An officer responded to assist on a medical call in the area of East 6th Street and Memorial Drive for a female who was found lying in the middle of the road. Officers determined the female was under the influence of synthetic marijuana after being provided it by two male parties. The male parties were located and one was found to be under the influence as well. The male was a juvenile and was later transported to Marathon Secure Detention.

Officers responded to a residence for a report of a theft. The reporting party advised of items taken from his house without his permission. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

March 22
6:51 a.m.- An officer responded to a business for a theft complaint. The caller advised an employee was suspected of stealing prescription medication that was supposed to be destroyed. The female suspect was spoken to and first denied the theft, then admitted to stealing the medication. She advised once she knew she had been caught, she threw the medication in the trash. The medication was located and properly disposed of. The female is being charged.

1:35 p.m.- An officer responded to Walmart for a theft complaint. The employee had video footage of a male party leaving the store with items he did not purchase. Investigation is ongoing.

March 24
2 p.m.- An officer took a report of a theft of an item outside of a building in the 100 block of South State Street. No known suspects at this time.

9:14 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop after the operator was found to have a suspended driving status. The male operator of the vehicle was found to be on probation through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Probation and Parole placed a hold on the male subject and he was taken into custody. As officers were securing the vehicle, items of drug paraphernalia as well as a baggie with a substance appearing to be methamphetamine was located in plain view. A field test of the substance came back positive for being methamphetamine. The male subject was transported to the jail on the probation hold, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

11:05 p.m.- An officer made contact with an operator of a vehicle that had been reported as being suspicious at a local business. The male subject was found to be violating the terms of an open bond he had through Marathon County. The male subject was taken into custody and booked into the jail for the bail jumping violation.
