Sheriff Jaeger appoints DARE officer

Sheriff Jeff Jaeger has announced the appointment of Deputy Holly Steckbauer to be one of the agency’s DARE Officers.

Steckbauer is a native of the Shawano area where she graduated from Shawano High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree from UW Green Bay before she completed her police recruit school training at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton.

She was initially hired in the corrections division at the Sheriff’s Office prior to being assigned to the patrol division in June of 2013. She will work with students at Tomahawk Elementary along with the St. Mary’s Catholic School in Tomahawk. Sgt. Tom Barker provides DARE education at Maple Grove School in the Merrill area.

Sheriff Jaeger noted, “As a former DARE instructor, I know the challenges of teaching this program. I am pleased that Deputy Steckbauer is continuing the tradition of Lincoln County Deputies teaching drug awareness to our youth. She is a very dedicated individual and I know she will be a positive role model for her students.”
