Merrill man arrested following Child Abuse allegations

On the evening of Friday February 12th, officers responded to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center upon receiving notification from staff of a child abuse claim.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who reported being pushed down some stairs by 34-year-old Shane Dickman. The victim further alleged being placed in a headlock by Dickman, taken to the floor and the victim’s face being pushed into the carpet. The victim indicated they had remained on the floor until the arrival of another adult who then transported the victim to MGSHC.
The adult party indicated receiving a text message from Dickman shortly after taking custody of the victim, stating the victim’s “neck is fine” and the victim was being “dramatic as usual.”
According to officer notes, hospital staff advised officers the victim would be transported to Ministry-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield due to injuries sustained in the incident.

Dickman was located a couple hours later at his residence and taken into custody on a charge of Physical Abuse of a Child.
According to further notices from officers involved, Dickman indicated he had restrained the victim due to behavior issues and was alleged the victim was “fine” up until the victim realized they were leaving his residence. At that point the victim began to cry and complained of neck pain.
Dickman was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

Dickman appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court on Monday Feb.15th and was officially charged with Felony-Intentionally Causing Harm to a Child and was released on $2,500 signature bond.
