Voters make choices in primary

Tuesday’s non-partisan primary election drew 2,975 Lincoln County voters to the polls where they weighed in on two local races and one state race.
In a four-way race for Tomahawk mayor, Steven Taskay (222 votes) and Don Nelson (136) advance to the April general election. Incumbent Tomahawk Mayor Clarann Stocker was knocked out of the race with 115 votes, as was challenger Mike Loka, who received 95 votes.
For the District 3 seat on the Lincoln County Board, challengers Tyler Mueller with 34 votes and Ray Bloomer with 33 will face off in April. Challenger Jeremy Ratliff didn’t make the cut with 23 votes. Incumbent Ryan Schwartzman is not seeking re-election.
In the statewide race for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice, challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg, currently an appeals court judge, received the most votes in Lincoln County with 1,422. Appointed incumbent justice Rebecca Bradley was a close second with 1,349. Milwaukee circuit court judge Joe Donald trailed with 159 votes. In the statewide vote, Bradley edged out Kloppenberg with 45 percent of the vote to Kloppenburg’s 43 percent. Donald received about 12 percent of the statewide vote.
