Clarence (Fed) Earl Grisham Jr., age 79, formerly of Merrill-Wausau area, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 in Lakeside, Oregon. Clarence was born November 16, 1936, in Springfield, IL. son of the late Clarence Earl and Genevieve Helen (Pelz) Grisham. He was a graduate of Merrill Sr. High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, and graduated with a Degree in Conservation from Tacoma, Washington. Major Grisham was a USAM Honoree and served in three branches of the US Army from 1953 to 1975, including the US Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve. He volunteered to serve his country through two tours in Vietnam. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, and many accolades and badges. After retiring from the military, Major Grisham worked at Linetec for a number of years before fully retiring to Lakeside, Oregon in 2000, where he lived until his passing. Clarence is survived by his brothers, Robert Howard (Judy) Grisham, of Biloxi, MS and Donald Paul (Kathy) Grisham of Marquette, MI. He is also survived by five children, Julie Joann (Mark) Stangl of Marshfield, WI, Charles Micheal (Rene) Grisham of Dalbo, MN, Mary Kay Stearly of Vero Beach, FL, James Robert (Susan) Grisham of Wausau, WI, Tania (Eric Schwarze) Grisham of Wausau, WI, and two stepchildren, Scott (Jessica) Gouza of Medford, WI and Michelle (Michael) O’Donnell of Rosholt, WI. Former spouses Diane Kay Kromholz and Mary Ann Schider. Surviving grandchildren are Amanda Stangl, Samantha Stangl, April Erickson, Angela Piepenbrok, Case Grisham, Chase Grisham, Kristina Stearly, Joseph Stearly, Ashley Grisham, Colton Grisham, Caitlin Grisham, Landen White, Jonathan Gouza, Jacob Gouza, and Michael, Megan, Brianna, Amelia and Keagen O’ Donnell. Surviving great grandchildren are Jolene Stangl, Cameron Erickson, Carter Erickson, Hailey Erickson, Sapphira Grisham, Allison Grisham, Rebecca Piepenbrok, Emma Piepenbrok, Richard Piepenbrok & Ellie O’Donnell. He is predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Genevieve (Pelz) Grisham; brother, Douglas Grisham; and granddaughter Elizabeth Stearly. Major Grisham’s remains are being cremated by Coos Bay Funeral Home and will find their final resting place at the Vietnam Memorial in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. A Memorial service to celebrate Clarence’s life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., with visitation from noon until time of services, at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, 903 E. 2nd. St., Merrill, WI. With Rev. Missy Holdorf and Rev. Philip Schneider, officiating.
