On Jan. 12, at approximately 3:15 p.m. the Merrill Police Department responded to the 500 block of Wisconsin Street for a suspicious death investigation. The Merrill Police Department is currently investigating the incident on Wisconsin Street as a homicide.
The victim, 55-year-old Kevin Monroe, was found deceased in his apartment on Wisconsin Street. A person of interest, 19-year-old Tyler Monroe, remains in custody on an unrelated probation warrant.
The Merrill Police Department believes there is no danger to the public at this time as it relates to this incident.
In a media release, the Merrill Police Department stated, “At this time, we are still investigating many elements of this incident and a complete report has not been provided to the Lincoln County DA. No further information is available for public release at this time, as the release of additional details could jeopardize the continuing investigation. We would also like to remind the public that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
